Scripting Module

Plugin to automate Mold Simulator and Frame Simulator with Python scripts: parametric studies, batch processing of whole project folders, results export and automatic reports.

Requires an up-to-date Mold Simulator or Frame Simulator version 9 and an active Updates & Upgrades plan. No Python installation needed: the interpreter is built in.

Web License
If Mold Simulator or Frame Simulator is activated with a Web License, you can use the plugin with the same credentials by adding the plugin’s yearly Web License subscription: Web License for Scripting Module.

Automate Mold Simulator and Frame Simulator with Python

The Scripting Module unlocks the Python interpreter built into Mold Simulator and Frame Simulator: load projects, change geometry and materials, assign boundary conditions, run simulations and read back the results, all from a script. What you now do by hand, one calculation at a time, becomes a procedure that repeats itself.

What you can do

  • Parametric studies: vary thicknesses, conductivities, timber or insulation types, glazing position, climatic zones… and recalculate every variant automatically.
  • Batch processing: simulate a whole folder of projects unattended (File → Batch script or from the command line).
  • Results export: collect U, Ψ, fRsi, Uf, Ψg and the other results into CSV files or tables ready for further processing.
  • Automatic reports: produce a PDF report for each variant, or an HTML report with values, tables and view images.
  • Parametric Bridge Generator: generate thermal bridges from the parametric templates and sweep one parameter at a time.
  • 3D models: manage components, extrusion levels and mesh import in the 3D editions.

Documentation and examples

The complete Scripting Module documentation is freely available: a reference for every API command and a set of ready-to-run example scripts (from the basics to variant studies, wall–window joints and the Bridge Generator), each with a video walkthrough.

You don’t need to be a programmer: starting from the documentation, an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can write the script you need.

Scripting Module and AI assistant (MCP)

From version 9 the Heatsim connection to AI (MCP server), which lets Claude or ChatGPT drive the software, is included in the Updates & Upgrades plan and does not require the Scripting Module. Without the plugin, however, the scripts run by the assistant work in restricted mode: they can work on the open project, but cannot read or write files, use system modules or process several projects automatically.

The Scripting Module lifts these limits and adds:

  • the Python console with script editor;
  • batch script execution (File → Batch script) and command-line execution;
  • the full Python standard library, with file input/output;
  • unattended processing of whole project folders.

A script also runs locally, much faster than the AI assistant and without using credits: once written, you can reuse it as often as you like.

Activation options

The Scripting Module has its own licence, separate from your Mold Simulator or Frame Simulator licence, and can be activated in one of these ways:

  • Software key: a code that enables the plugin on one computer. The plugin’s computer code differs from Mold/Frame’s: each Scripting licence works only on the computer where it was activated.
  • Web Licence: online access with username and password, to use the plugin on any computer and with all your programs. It is a dedicated Web Licence for the plugin and can be chosen only if at least one Mold Simulator or Frame Simulator program is already activated with a Web Licence. It costs 15% of the plugin price (€102 + VAT) and is valid for 1 year.
  • Dartwin USB key: the plugin is activated on the USB key you already use with Mold Simulator or Frame Simulator.

Several computers or users: one Scripting licence enables a single computer (software key) or one user at a time (server installation: one concurrent user). To use it on more computers or by several users at the same time you need additional licences: contact Dartwin for a quote.

Requirements and conditions

  • Version: Mold Simulator or Frame Simulator version 9 or later, updated to the latest available release.
  • Active Updates & Upgrades plan: the Scripting Module works only while your updates period is valid. If the subscription expires, the plugin is disabled until it is renewed; the rest of the software keeps working normally.
  • Updates: plugin updates are included in your program’s Updates & Upgrades plan, with no extra fee.
  • Python: no installation needed, the interpreter is built into the software.
  • Viewer editions: the Scripting Module is not available.

Support

Support covers activation and operation of the plugin and of the API commands. It does not include writing, fixing or reviewing custom scripts: for that you have the examples and the documentation, which you can also use with your AI assistant.

If you need a tailor-made script, our technicians can prepare one on request, quoted separately.
